COMMISSIONED ARTWORK for DIGITALLY ENHANCED PROJECTS
MARC KITAEN

From the beginning of each project we discuss and determine the layout and theme of any creation. These are fun collaborative one on one projects. You also have input or may have a preconceived idea on how you want the art work project to develop, I encourage and nurture that from my clients. There is plenty of communication, dialogue, and brain storming between us before any project begins. Whether you mail me ideas drawn on napkins or letters through the Internet, we both will agree on and understand the concept for your project from the first step. For creative ideas, themes, and images of pets and people, view the artwork in the Animal Art Galleries or Fantasy Art Gallery. The conceptual ideas and artwork possibilities are universal and wide open to you getting a one of a kind memorable art design done. These completed gallery art images (most images from this web site are available for use) can be combined with your photographs also. See an image you like and I can place your pet into that scene. This choice allows you to get your pet into an elaborate animal adventure theme image, and keeps the costs down for you. I do not have to make a new custom picture from scratch then. Not everyone is looking for artwork portraying their pets as a super hero, or swimming under the ocean as a mermaid (though they very well may be). If not, then a single photo image portraiture, combined with a beautiful background is for you. The custom portraiture images are as you would think, a much simpler project and process for me compared to the multiple images animal adventure art themes. We keep it simple, without a lot of extra images, details, and you get a treasure at a reasonable cost.

How is it done you ask? When you supply me with a photograph, or digital file (*good quality), The main subject (your pet or family member image) is removed (erased or masked out) from the supplied background photograph or image. There are other necessary normal color corrections, editing, and adjustments done during this first stage initial process. These steps described are considered part of the quoted price and the normal graphic design service fees.

I then use my resources, photography from our own personal libraries, original digital artwork, or create digital designs, and backgrounds from scratch. I can paint digitally, getting art techniques and effects like watercolor, acrylics, and many more classical media textures. Like a giant puzzle with the images laid out in front of me, or I see the completed artwork in my minds eye, I piece all the images together. There are layers upon layers involved with images being manipulated, opacities being lowered, special effects added, the list goes on. The software I generally work with is Photoshop, some Illustrator, Bryce 4D, and other plugin programs. If there is a theme involved or requested, then I will use props that I have available on disk (original photographs or digital images) or go out in the field and photograph the necessary custom images needed for a project. Customers can also supply there own prop images/photographs, to use for their commissioned artwork. All digital images or photographs supplied to us from customers must legally be their rightful property and ownership.

We have so many stock images and completed artwork available to pick from all our artists. Choosing a simple painterly background, clouds, sunsets, landscape scenery, props, is not a problem when it comes to getting started with a commissioned project. We also have a catalog portfolio of color schemes, frames, digital mattes and backgrounds to select from when we visit your home for a personal art presentation meeting. If you are located close enough to us, (*optional services) we can go on site or remote location, or you can come to the portrait studio and we will have a custom photo shoot done for your project.

STANDARD COMMISSION PRICES and SIZES

Prices for commissioned 17" x 17" and 16" x 20" sizes start at: *$150

This price is for portraiture type style only, based upon a single photograph or image supplied by client. (This price is not for multiple photographic collage type projects.)

Choose from the majority of completed artwork found in the art galleries. We can use them (in most cases) as the background for your commissioned project. This will help lower the starting (*$150 fee) price for your commissioned project.

A *$135 price is offered and reserved for special organizations, groups, and memberships only. This is an introductory special price only.

Artwork is matted and mounted on archival foam core, and is ready to frame.

Smaller sized prints from: 8" x 10", 11" x 14", and 12" x 12" are considered reproductions only. These smaller sizes are not available as commissioned photographic digital art projects. The smaller sized prints can become available as reproductions after the initial commissioned project is completed. Reproduction prints will be discounted to clients with their commissioned projects.

For the more elaborate custom (multiple images, and design work) "Animal Adventure" theme art, the costs for a commissioned project are based on a per project basis. Details of each project will have to be discussed with the client at the time of contact with us. Costs are determined by how many images, files, photographs, printing materials choice, details, and final output print sizes.

PHOTOGRAPHS and IMAGES SUPPLIED by CLIENT

We accept good quality photographs, via e-mail attachments on the Internet (high resolution digital files / 300 DPI) or CD's (Mac or PC format), or mailing them through the U.S. Postal Service. At the time of receiving your digital files, photographic images, and or reproduced prints, I will advise you if the quality is good enough to proceed with any projects that would be commissioned. We reserve the right to turn away any photographs, digital files, or art images sent to us if they do not meet our quality standards, or are of poor quality.

Photographic restorations can be done, but there will be additional costs incurred separate and above from any regular commissioned priced project originally quoted, if images sent to us by the client are of poor quality. Photographic restorations and graphic design service fees are at an hourly rate of: $45.

If images, artwork, or photographs are sent to us through the mail, and client does not wish to pay for photographic / artwork restorations (due to poor quality) for their commissioned project, then client is responsible for all return shipping and handling charges of said sent images. There is always a little amount of normal restorations, color corrections required on any image or file sent to me. That is part of the normal quoted commissions price, I do not charge extra for normal corrections made on a project.

Please do not send original artwork or photographs that are of high value to you. We will not be held responsible for any shipping problems or losses due to matters beyond our control. Shipping insurance is recommended for any personal items (photographs, artwork, or images) mailed to us via the postal service. You can get reprint copies of your photographs (the bigger the photograph sent to me the better), have your original artwork scanned into digital files onto a CD (Mac or PC format / Tiff files / 300 DPI), or send printed art reproductions through the mail.

The client must legally be the owner of any images sent to us, and there will be an agreement sent by mail or the Internet, to the client stating that the client is the rightful owner of any images sent to us, as well as other important commission information that is necessary to read and understand before any commission work can begin. This agreement must be signed and mailed via postal service or by Internet E-mail confirmed communications should work be agreed on between both parties to go forward on a clients commissioned project.
